Ruled by a great ancient red wyrm Xaxabrand. A lawful evil kingdom. Most of the cities here are ruled by some sort of monster (half-dragon, dragon, lich, etc…). Has no festival at all when the magical mountain passes over. Once a year all the different cities celebrate a “Day of the Dragon King” to Xaxabrand, giving gifts, executions, gladiatorial events, taxes, etc… Constantly at war with Naldre, Ostgwyn, Celeari. Vareth has nothing to do with Dyrlan because of the non-magical land due to the god‘s war, and neutral towards Ormor & other kingdoms.
Life & Society - Quality of life varies drastically from city to city within Vareth. Different cities are assigned to different lords by Xaxabrand himself these lords maybe anything from vampire masters to insane gnomes. Life is generally harsh but those that keep their head down can generally survive unmolested save for the random disappearance. Mercenaries and warlords thrive in this desolated land.
Major Geographical Features - Vareth is one half of a large peninsula jutting in to the Eastern Ocean, border to the north by the Gulf of Tears and to the south by the Gulf of Corynn. The other half of the peninsula is occupied by Celeari (the mutant human Kingdom), the two kingdoms are divided by the Sternn Mountains as well as the Serpent’s River. The western branch of Vareth borders Naldre, Dyrlan, Gothbael, and Ostgwyn, the latter of which once possessed this western branch.
Norcorm Mountain - Norcrom mountain is an active volcano in the northern reaches of Vareth near the Serpent’s Inlet. The city of Norcrom is built around the base of this mountain, while Xaxabrand’s palace and throne room are acutally suspended by massive chains above the mouth of the volcano.
